motion city soundtrack will be in australia in march. you have to get them!

That would be an awesome choice =D

I'd suggest My American Heart, but they are on their US tour immediately after Soundwave =\ Any other SF band that do not seem to have shows booked after the Perth date would be splendid to have, though it's not going to happen :

Mindless Self Indulgence, The Fall Of Troy, Envy On The Coast, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, The Starting Line, All Time Low, Sugarcult, Saosin, Plain White T's, From Autumn To Ashes, The Deerhunter, mewithoutYou, The Receving End Of Sirens, As Tall As Lions, The Matches, Still Remains, Socratic.

people are suggesting such diverse bands. but do remember (and i bet the organizers too) will weigh out the *popularity* of the acts before bringing them over. If it's just going to target a niche market, that aint where the money will be right?

Diverse acts can be mainstream too, just like Justin Timberlake and Muse (both being suggested) who are so musically diversed but two of them are popular. If the organiser wants to weight popularity, then all the bands except Incubus, The Roots and John Legend shouldn't be there at all.

'For the first time in Kuala Lumpur, the largest outdoor multi-genre music festival is about to light up the grounds of the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club.'

so the diversed line up actually matches the festival theme.

Are we the Malaysians still afraid of non-commercial music?

If the organizers are bent on making it a music festival, then I hope the music counts more than album sales. These aren't individual concerts for a particular superstar.

Singapore's Mosaic Festival brought in Jose Gonzales last year and Soil and Pimp Sessions this year.
Jose Gonzales was big in Europe that year, but how many % of Singaporeans have heard of him, let alone bought his album?
Soil and Pimp is a death jazz band from Japan. How many Singaporeans listen to jazz? To be more specific, Japanese jazz? And even more specific, death jazz?
Yet still they are in the lineup.

No wonder Malaysian radio is in the state that it is today.
