I clearly recall the Emcees announcing Search was next, not Incubus. I may have been shit tired from having been there since 2pm and aching because of the cold night air plus the wet clothes but I am super sure they said search was next. And the big screen on both the sky and sun stage said Search. That's why we walked away for a breather. That's why a lot of people walked away for a breather.
And like I said in the post above, I would have waited for Incubus no matter what and I wouldn't have minded if they were pushed up either. Its the fact that it was an UNANNOUNCED change thats why we're all ticked off.
Yes they had their reasons to push Incubus up but that's not the issue. Its about having the courtesy to inform concert goers that a change was made to the schedule.
I've been to the Baybeats Music Festival and the Mosaic Music Festival and even to the Good Vibrations Festival, heck I've waited till 2am for the Beastie Boys, but on all these occasions there's always been an Emcee to announce the delay of a performance or a change in schedule or anything that SHOULD be told to the audience. Its about having respect for the people who believed in the organisers enough to pay money to support their event. Its basic Public Relations.

If you are a big fan of Incubus, you would have waited at the Sun stage hours before to get a front spot. Not knowing the change of schedule, I have been waiting at Sun stage since Joe Flizzow's performance. I would have waited there for more than 5 hours if Incubus's slot was not pushed up. To be honest I did not enjoy any set before Incubus, but it was the kind of trade off you gotta take. It did pay off as I was at first row. Nonetheless Sunburst does have the obligation to inform the audience about any rescheduling, so they were partly to be blamed if you miss the beginning of Incubus's set. But in my opinion, even if Sunburst were have made the annoucement, you would not be able to get to the front after John Legend's set, because there were already heaps of eager fans waiting at Sun stage. So stop complaining you would have ended at the front and bla bla bla!
While John Legend was playing at the other stage, there were hints that Incubus would be next as not only a bunch of white guys setting up the stage, but also you could see Brandon's djembe drum, Mike's pipa and Kilmore's DJ set on the stage. I was pretty sure the emcees did not announce Search was next, just merely asked the crowd to support local bands. I have been to Big Day Out and Southbound, you always have to forgo some performances if you want to get to front rows. Timetable clashes are very common in bigger festivals with more stages, you got to choose if two of your favourite acts play at the same time.

sorry for those who almost missed incubus's set. that must be disappointing. but i have to say that i agree with low_voltage. if u're really a fan of incubus, then u would've done what a number of us did that nite. we sacrificed watching The Roots, Meet Uncle Hussein and even John Legend by just checking 'em out from those large LCD screens while eagerly waiting for incubus at Sun Stage. we even had to 'layan' Incognito' just to secure our front spots. so i was happy that they didn't delay their set and came on rite on schedule.
i wouldn't put the blame solely on the organizers for this mess. as i recall the large LCD screen did project that Incubus was up next after Legend's set. plus, some acts decided to play well beyond their given time, so that really messed up the schedule. so perhaps the organizers had no choice but to change the schedule. *note to organizers, it is safer for u guys to put "subject to change" clause at the schedule in the future.*
despite all this, incubus rocked our wet socks off that night. much love and respect to Ben for still playing even when he was feeling a bit under the weather that nite.
